I’m feeling very nostalgic for my studio missing the feeling of being surrounded by rainbows and colors that came out of my imagination into some abstract unexplainable mess that I loved.
I like playing with acrylic.
But do you remember when I decided to try watercolor?
What colors were so much cleaner. Originally, I started painting, naked because they acrylics made such a freaking mess and ruined all my clothes. I didn’t wanna wear a painters, mock or overalls because I felt too covered up. I tried painting in a bikini, but then my bikinis got ruined with paint.
And I don’t know if you know this, but when paint dries on fabric the fabric it’s really stiff and then it would scratch me.
And I didn’t have a washing machine in my studio, so I would somehow have to take all of my paint covered clothes and bring them across town to then wash them in my washing machine at home was just felt like way too much trouble.
So instead, I just started painting naked and I loved it. It was fun to feel the paint on my skin and when I took photos … well I’m just obsessed with the naked woman’s body. I think it’s the most beautiful thing to place into a photograph or a painting.
Her form makes any moment come to life. Her figure feels so raw and personal and soft and sensual and magical, and the fact that I have a woman’s body—
Well, it’s such a delight to inhabit, to play with and to incorporate in my art. so it all kind of just worked out. 🎨🍍
