I had my very first summer job. It wasn’t glamorous at all, I worked at a small café near the beach, serving coffee and cleaning tables. But you know what? I was so proud of myself, because it was the first time I earned money on my own. I saved almost everything I made, even though I really wanted to spend it on clothes and sweets. I remember one day a customer spilled a huge cup of cappuccino all over himself and I tried so hard not to laugh, but ended up giggling anyway… he laughed too, so it was fine. That job taught me discipline and responsibility, but also that I could survive on my own if I wanted to. Even now, I sometimes smile when I walk past cafés — it brings back those memories.
